14 (Now the day on which Jesus made the mud[a] and caused him to see[b] was a Sabbath.)[c] 15 So the Pharisees asked him again how he had gained his sight.[d] He replied,[e] “He put mud[f] on my eyes and I washed, and now[g] I am able to see.”

16 Then some of the Pharisees began to say,[h] “This man is not from God, because he does not observe[i] the Sabbath.”[j] But others said, “How can a man who is a sinner perform[k] such miraculous signs?” Thus there was a division[l] among them.
